FIRST column in a while. I was hoping to write about four wins out of four since the defeat to Salford, but unfortunately football never works out how you plan it.
We showed great character after the Salford defeat and won three games on the bounce, the Harrogate one sticking out as probably the most impressive due to their home form and the manner in which we won the game.
We didn’t get carried away with that win so we won’t get carried away with the loss on Saturday at Kendal. A crazy 15 minutes ultimately cost us the game. As a team we didn’t start the game as we would have liked and didn’t do enough to regroup after conceding so early. That’s gone now and all we can do is look forward to the next game, at Farsley tonight, and try and put it right. Every team is going to be up for it against us and we have to match that and more.
Just while we are on about Saturday, Gary Brown’s Mrs is after a new toaster, microwave, kettle and front room window after Brownie returned home on Saturday and smashed the lot up. Joking aside, Brownie has been brilliant since I joined and will dust himself off no problem. Certain players can take bad days and move on, he is one of them.
I WATCHED my two old clubs play each other at Croft Park last Tuesday, Blyth and Whitley Bay, and watched with my mate Paul Robinson who was injured. It was nice to go back and see some old faces. I only got reminded about their FA Cup run and what I’d missed out on 46 times.
It was a good game with Blyth winning in extra time which sees them into the final of the Northumberland Senior Cup at St James' Park against Morpeth. I hope Blyth go on to win it. I know Robbie Dale has nightmares about the final as he’s been on the losing team a few times so it would be nice to see Blyth win it for him.
HOPEFULLY next week we'll have six more points and can kick on with trying to win promotion.
