JUST as the sun has started to shine, One Off Places has launched its yurt portfolio. Gone are the days when a budget holiday meant a sleeping mat and a damp tent. There is now a wide choice of yurt sites throughout Europe, where you can be at one with the great outdoors while retaining all your home comforts.

Starting closest to home, Little Fursdon is a collection of yurts on the edge of Bodmin Moor, in Cornwall. Each yurt has a king-sized double bed with crisp cotton bedlinen and warm fleece throws.

Imagine yourself snugly tucked up with the light from the flames of the woodburner dancing on canvas of the yurt. From here, you can stargaze through the transparent roof dome at the Cornish skies.

Don’t miss: Watergate Bay just down the road, where the extreme kite surfers hang out.

Rates: from £350-£650 per week.

Cross the Channel and head south. Here you will find a luxury eco yurt, located in France’s Dordogne. Situated on a smallholding, the yurt was made by the owners from their own willow plantation.

Don’t miss: Brantome, a delightful riverside town with prehistoric caves, a magnificent Benedictine abbey and the chance to go canoeing along the river.

Rates: from £255-£340 per week.

Further south still and into Andalucia in Spain, where you’ll find the Hoopoe Yurt Hotel. Five very different styles of yurt are set in three hectares of olive groves and cork oak forest, and with spectacular views of the Grazalema mountains.

This is the perfect place to unwind and soak up the sights and sounds of nature right on your doorstep.

Don’t miss: film night under the stars in the meadow once a week.

Rates: from £100 per night.
