TWO of the North-East’s best loved landmarks have joined forces to give visitors a glimpse of life in days gone by.
Historic Lumley Castle, at Chester-le-Street, County Durham, has teamed up with nearby Beamish open air museum to create a mini-break which aims to showcase the region’s social and cultural heritage.
The North East Heritage Break combines a two-night stay at the 600-year-old castle with tickets to the museum, which gives visitors the chance to experience Victorian and Edwardian England.
Guests at the 73-room castle will also enjoy dinner in the hotel’s renowned Black Knight restaurant on one evening, along with a traditional cream tea, and, on both mornings, full English breakfast.
“Chester-le-Street is one of the most ancient English settlements,” said Lumley Castle’s business development manager Samantha Buchanan Robinson.
“By teaming up with Beamish, we’re giving visitors the chance to experience life in this region from medieval times, through to the heyday of the industrial revolution and the present day.”
The two night Lumley Castle North East Heritage break costs between £280 and £350 per couple and is based on two people sharing.
