A YARM hairdressing salon whose success has been built on the long-lasting marriage of its owners is to celebrate 30 years in business with a series of events for customers.
Hairtek, in Fairfax Court, was bought by Roy Lewis, in 1982, after he met his future wife Diane while working alongside her in the salon.
It has since flourished, increasing its staff from three to 13, and its owners now plan to thank their customers. Next week, the 30th client each day will receive a free cut. The salon will also run a raffle and distribute other treats, including homemade cupcakes.
Mr Lewis says: “The secret to success is having boundless energy and to keep driving staff to succeed.
We aim to carry on and maintain our good name and deliver the service clients deserve.”
Among Hairtek’s loyal team is June McWhirter, who has worked at the salon for 21 years since joining after leaving school, aged 16, and manageress Rachel Leason, who has been with Hairtek since 2001.
