FASHION boutique Elan has been a fixture in Darlington designer district for more than a quarter of a century.
The Grange Road boutique is owned by Linda Woods and stocks a selection of top designers, such as Anya Hindmarch, DVF, Moschino, Theory, Helmut Lang, John Smedley, Ash footwear and Farhi.
“The on-trend colours this autumn are a lime-mustard, cobalt blues and rich burgundy,” says Elan manageress Emma Webster, pictured. The usual autumn/winter plumage was also in evidence at the photoshoot: luxurious brown and grey knitwear, with black leather leggings being the key must-have for the season.
“The poncho is back and we have lots of fantastic knitwear, including the 360 Cashmere range, which is new to us,” says Emma.
Another item which you can dress up for evening or wear with jeans and casual leggings for a daytime outing is the Helmut Lang fur gilet. “It goes well with leather and gabardine leggings,” says Emma. “The Helmut Lang reflex leggings are quite substantial and give you a lift in all the right places. They’re a best seller.” Also by Helmut Lang is another must-have piece, a fabulous side-zip sheepskin jacket.
Suede textures and ankle boots are key; snoods and a Theory mohair jumper are perfect for keeping cosy.
Since Linda took over Elan eight years ago, the range of accessories has grown and two labels in particular are perfect for the party season. “Karen Ravelli and Fiva are both quite glamorous, semi-precious dress jewellery, which finish off a party outfit perfectly,” says Emma.
