WHEN I first listened to Little Big Town’s self-titled album, some ten years ago, I thought that they were going to be something to be reckoned with. Now, it seems the country music world has exploded with them being labelled the hottest outfit around. Their harmonies are a key factor to their unique sound, and are complemented by some great arrangements and modern-style songs.

Already, they have blown off the competition in the Billboard Chart to hold the Number One spot for the last two weeks with the first single release from the album, called Pontoon.

After forming in 1998, Karen Fairchild, Kimberley Schlapman, Jimi Westbrook and Phillip Sweet are now worthy of a place among Nashville’s great group sounds. Perhaps their vocal brilliance comes from no one being classed as the lead singer, instead their songs are led by varying combinations.

If you’re a contemporary modern country music fan then this album is a must-have for your collection.
