Russian pianist Alexei Lubimov and pianist Natalia Pschenitschnikova mark the centenary of composer John Cage with a performance of his songs and piano pieces. The album contains fresh accounts of the iconoclast’s music, conveying the playfulness and serenity that underpinned his works.
These are mostly early Cage, including settings of poems by Gertruide Stein from the 1930s, but also include a later entry from 1984. A fitting tribute to a composer, who has pushed the boundaries of the time.
