Bass player Arild Andersen and tenor saxophonist Tommy Smith have performed extensively together in duo and trio performances, but here they’re supported by the full power of the SNJO at a live concert in Glasgow celebrating ECM’s 40th anniversary. New arrangements of works by Dave Holland, Jan Garbarek, Keith Jarrett and others were commissioned from Geoff Keezer, Mike Gibbs, Makoto Ozone and others – producing all kinds of cross-references to the ECM catalogue. Andersen and Smith are featured extensively with the orchestra adapting magnificently to each arranger’s style.
