I’M embarrassed to say I hadn’t heard of Field Music until I spoke with one of the brothers Brewis recently, so Plumb was my introduction to the Sunderland duo.
At just 35 minutes long, the 15 tracks contained within need to have an immediate impact on the listener and they certainly do not disappoint.
Best listened to from beginning to end, as opposed to selecting the odd track here and there, falsetto-style vocals are complimented by erudite instrumentation to make an album that demands to be played several times over to get the most from it.
Reminiscent of 10cc at times, their style won’t appeal to everyone, but I found them a refreshing alternative to more mainstream bands.
