IT’S taken some time for The Pineapple Thief to appear on my radar.
But it’s definitely a case of better late than never.
Atmospheric, well-structured, deep and thoughtprovoking, Variations on a Dream is a re-release of the band’s 2004 album, then their third.
If you were to stick a label on it you would say progressive, indie, but in reality TPT is so much more. It’s clear much thought has gone into this record.
This is not the result of a ten-minute jam session. This is an idea spawned by founder Bruce Soord and nurtured to very near perfection. Nothing is ever flawless, but this has to be as close as it gets for me.
Hopefully, the band lived up to their reputation when they appeared at Fibbers in York last night.
