JOOL Holland’s 2006 Hootenanny seems a long time ago, but that’s when we were first introduced to the train-travelling phenomena that is Seasick Steve.
It was there that he performed Dog House Boogie on an instrument that could only be described as a piece of wood with optional nail and string attachments.
He was an overnight success, the “cat’s meow” as he put it. Five years later, we have this ‘Best Of’ compilation featuring tracks from all five of his albums plus a live concert filmed at Brixton Academy, along with a 35-minute documentary entitled Bringing it All Back Home.
