Matt Westcott speaks to Jack Dooley of All The Young ahead of the band's gig at Inside Out in Darlington on Sunday, November 6.

Warners signed you to a six album deal. They obviously have great faith in you, does it put any added pressure on you as a band to produce?

No more than usual. We've always put a lot of pressure on ourselves to work hard and write tunes.

How has the year been for you since, I imagine it’s been pretty non stop?

It's been a top year so far, we've been invited onto some ace gigs with The Courteeners, The Wombats, Morrissey and Hard-Fi, we also did a few of the smaller festivals. Next year will be our busiest yet though, so we can't wait.

How is the tour going and what kind of reaction have you had from the crowds?

The last tour in September was the best yet, mainly because it was our name on the tickets and we were pulling big crowds. To see the enthusiasm of an audience that are only there to see you was a big buzz.

You say you feel you have grown up as a band, in what way do you feel different?

Well we've all been in various bands since we were teenagers, then we formed this one in our early 20's and we'd all grown up a bit. I think we've all learnt from mistakes made in past ventures.

Do you think there is a need for a great guitar band to ofset the fluffy here today, gone tomorrow stuff that's in the charts?

Yeah, although I don't think the ugly pop music in the charts is our enemy necessarily. That stuff will always exist. There's more of a need for a shake up in the British guitar music scene which has always been so good in the past. There needs to be more than a few good tunes here and there, there needs to be ace records made by people with something to say. Hopefully next year we'll see more of it.

How well do you work together? Are you all pretty easy going or do you experience any conflict? If so is this good or bad for the creative process?

We're the same as any band or set of mates, we talk, we row, we sort it out and then we do it again! Me and Ryan are brothers so we obviously have our sibling moments but nothing we can't handle. A few fireworks can be good in a studio, it keeps the energy up.

What kind of things are inspiring your songwriting at the moment?

Ryan is chief songwriter and then we all do our bit once he's got the tune. He writes about lots of different things, but the general ethos of this band is to make abrasive and inspiring music for normal people just like us. We don't like dwelling on the woes of life too much, this band is a positive thing.

What can we expect in the next year or so?

Lots and lots of gigs, our debut album, and a few fireworks of course.
