THEY say the musical world is a strange old business. If further proof be needed, it’s hard to believe that a new album by Eric Church has gone to Number One in both the Billboard 200 and the Top Country Albums Charts but, as yet, he’s not had a Number One single since arriving on the scene in 2006.
However, just having listened to this new release I’m sure things are about to change. From his new offering two singles have charted, Homeboy reaching the number 13 slot and, at present, the chart-climbing Drink In My Hand is in the top 30. Church has created a brilliant selection of songs, from the opening raunchy Creepin’ through to the laid-back Over When It’s Over.
Church also shows off his talent as a songwriter with all of the tracks written or co-written by him apart from one.
It’s a great modern contemporary release which to me will give him that number one goal he’s been waiting for for quite a while.
