THE Price is right for the new face behind the bar at the Rovers Return in Coronation Street (ITV1). Her name’s Stella Price, although Stella Artois might be a more appropriate name for someone working in a pub.

Happily she’s a feisty lady. She needs to be as landlord Steve McDonald wants help with the two women in his life – wife Balmy Becky and the mother of his child Terrible Tracy. They’re at war with little sign of a resolution. Even a UN peace-keeping force would refuse to set foot in Weatherfield. Stella could be just the person to sort them out, bang their heads together and restore law and order behind the bar.

But what do we know of Stella, apart from a resemblance to someone in another part of Soapland, namely East- Enders’ Albert Square. But Stella is no Cindy doll, she’s a feisty female well able to take care of herself when Steve interviews her for the job of Rovers manager.

She comes with plenty of baggage, more Samsonite than Louis Vuitton.

There’s a man in her life Karl, who has an eye for the ladies. They’ll be queuing up in the corner shop to buy a night out with him. Becky is the first in the queue.

The Rovers is also scene of the monthly fight, this time between Tina and Kylie. Tina’s upset because boyfriend Graeme has fallen for his fake bride Xin. She’s thinking of shopping him to the immigration authorities which could see him behind bars.

So Graeme does the decent thing – he does a runner with Xin, leaving Tina to have a cat fight with Kylie over her derogatory comments.

Mad Max proposes in EastEnders (BBC1). He’s still in love with his former wife, Tanya, but shocks everyone by asking Vanessa to marry him. Part of him hopes this will force Tanya, now married to Greg, to admit she’s still in love with him. Sex rather than love is what’s propelling the affair between Sinner Ella and toy boy Adam who’s the apple of her eye.

Daughter Mia – Adam’s girlfriend – suspects her mother has an outside interest when she buys herself sexy new underwear. Sinner Ella’s husband Declan hasn’t the foggiest about the affair.

So much so that he arranges a surprise party to mark their anniversary. The biggest surprise could be finding his wife and his daughter’s boyfriend in bed together.

Confessions from Michael Moon to baby swap mum Da-Do-Ron-Ronnie. He tells all about finding his mother after she committed suicide and how he blames himself for not preventing her death.

Ronnie is preparing for her court appearance, charged with abducting Kat Moon’s son, Tommy. Her lawyer reckons she might escape prison if they can prove she has a serious mental disorder.

Well, she married Jack. That should be proof enough.
