REVIEWS
Beethoven: Violin Concerto: Liza Fershtman (Challenge Classics CC72384)
Violinist Ferschtman joins the Netherlands Symphony Orchestra, giving a brilliant rendition of Beethoven’s Violin Concerto in D Major. The young violinist captures the narrative flow of the work with a purity of tone and elegant phrasing.
Conducted by Jan Willem de Vriend.
Estilo Espagnol: Devich Trio (CC72322)
The Hungarian violinist Hannah Devich, Dutch cellist Jasper Havelaar and South African violinist Sarah Oates, who have performed regularly as chamber music partners since their first appearance in 2003, present a disc devoted to the Spanish composers Turina, Granados, Cassado and Arbos. Played with verve, this recording comes highly recommended.
Con Chitarrone: Italian Sonatas from Early Renaissance to Baroque (CC72369)
The Leupuld Trio have produced a CD which recreates what they believe would have been regular practice in smaller performance venues of the period. Inspired.
