FORMER schools inspector and now author and public speaker Gervase Phinn has earned a place in the hearts of millions with his heartwarming and humorous tales of his working life in North Yorkshire.
Now he’s moved on a bit and, with his 70th birthday on the horizon, he takes time off to cast a quizzical eye over the absurdities and bugbears of modern life as well as looking back over his incident-studded career.
But this is no “Grumpy Old Men” rant.
It’s a memoir and a commentary which combines warmth and wisdom with a gentle comic touch.
