THERE is nothing quite like Disney when it comes to magic, makebelieve and childhood memories, so it is no surprise that a packed house at Newcastle’s Metro Radio Arena was taken on a journey of a lifetime when Mickey Mouse and his friends arrived in the North-East.

Feld Entertainment has returned to the region with yet another spectacular Disney on Ice show, which this year marks 100 years of magic and brings 18 much-loved stories to life.

Children’s favourites Mickey and Minnie Mouse lead the cast of 65 world-renowned characters on a 90-minute extravaganza of fairytales, fun and fireworks that left children open-mouthed and parents in awe during the opening night on Tuesday.

Pinnochio, The Lion King, Toy Story, Mulan and The Incredibles were some of the tales portrayed as the celebration travelled through the past ten decades of Disney delights.

Young girls in the audience dressed in their best princess outfits gasped with delight as all of the Disney princesses glided into the arena.

Seamless skating routines, intricate costumes and stunning set and lighting displays – brought to life with falling snow, thousands of bubbles and spontaneous sparkles and fireworks – combined to create a magical atmosphere.

Disney may be in its 100th year, but there is nothing tired about it whatsoever.
