LIKE father, like son. Ben Mitchell is proving himself a chip off the old block by following in the footsteps of dad Fill the Fug in EastEnders (BBC1).
Fill - who together with brother Grunt used to be Albert Square's answer to the Krays - is trying to bond with Ben now that the lad's back in Walford. You know the sort of father-son activity - bowling, kicking a ball around, going to the pictures, kicking someone's head in.
This column has already suggested, a little unkindly you may think but not without reason, that Ben is the devil's spawn and may very well have the numbers 666 tattooed on his head. I'm not one to say "I told you so" but I told you so as Ben is unmasked as the one who hit Little Mo's baby Freddy.
"That's my boy," says Fill, giving him a paternal hug and reading him a bedtime story from The Idiot's Guide To Duffing People Up.
Fill needs someone to break the law with now that bro Grunt has gone soft and gone oft somewhere. Ex-lover Jane goes in search of some Grunt-and-groan, finding him at the end of his tether (which is a few miles outside Watford).
She tries to persuade Grunt to come home but he's in a right state, the poor lamb. His wife's been nasty to him and he reckons his daughter would be better off without him. Somehow Jane persuades him to return home - straight into a slap round the face from mum Peggy for doing a runner in the first place.
With wife Sonia holidaying on the island of Lesbos, Martin takes Carly out on a date.
He knows how to show a woman a good time by taking her down the allotments for a spot of bedding. They're getting intimate in the potting shed (be careful of the rake, Martin) when Sonia arrives, landing the pair in deep manure.
The other big news in the Square is the impending departure of Little Mo and Doctor Oliver "Kissing" Cousins - in different directions. She's going to Barnstaple, he's going to Leeds.
It looks like the reluctant lovebirds might get it together when Oli asks the Slater sister to marry him. She says yes. Then she says no after cousin Stacey snitches that she saw a drunken doctor taking barmaid Dawn home, and he intended to put more than his thermometer in her mouth.
In Coronation Street (ITV1), the identity of the sender of the Hillman cards is finally revealed. It's... sorry, I can't say. Having dragged the guilty party to the cop shop, Gail the hamster tries to keep the identity secret from the rest of Weatherfield. Some hope. Kelly is in court for theft. We know she's innocent, having been framed by vengeful psycho Becky, but she's being urged to plead guilty to escape a jail sentence. She's done time before for shoplifting and knows what life is like behind bars, having been a fan of Bad Girls for years.
Jasmine continues to deliberate whether she's straight or gay in Emmer dale (ITV1). Having visited the island of Lesbos (it's crowded with visitors from Soapland at present) with Debbie, she catches another bus and is bedded by Cain, Debbie's father.
Otherwise it's business as usual in the Dales. Adam drugs Steph. Cain threatens Carl. Terry and Jean (not to be confused with Terry and June) are caught in a compromising position in their car by the police resulting in Terry being hauled into the station by the constables, which can be very painful.
