Introducing Charles Mingus (Warner Jazz 8122733722)
Some of Mingus's greatest LPs were made for Atlantic including Blues & Roots, Oh Yeah, Tonight at Noon, Pithecanthropos Erectus and The Clown and this draws from all of them. Featuring Booker Ervin, Horace Parlan, Jimmy Knepper and Jackie McLean, who died recently, this is a good introduction.
