LADY GAGA wowed fans with her amazing Monster Ball Tour, an extravagant show featuring everything from from sea monsters to burning pianos.

The star performed all the favourites, as well as new tracks from her extended album, The Fame Monster. The show was set to a theatrical backdrop and saw the singer make 15 costume changes.

The ambitious production was divided into four acts: City, Subway, Forest and Monster Ball. It told a story of Lady Gaga and her friends finding their way across New York to the illusive Monster Ball. This rather strange narrative held the show together.

The show opened with Dance in the Dark, a track that Lady Gaga debuted at The Brits recently.

Other highlights included crowd-pleasing Love Game, which saw Gaga as a space-age nun, and Monster, in which she disguised herself as a huge, tasselled lampshade.

The best was indeed saved for last. The penultimate song, Paparazzi, was a dazzling performance, which saw the singer battling with a giant animatronic octopus.

The pantomime was brought to an end with a heart-thumping rendition of Bad Romance, leaving “ga-garo- ma-ma” echoing around the arena.

Remarkably, the ambitious show was orchestrated in just four weeks. The singer is said to have been bored with the US version of the tour, so she simply scrapped it and re-built the entire show for UK audiences.

She seemed genuinely pleased to be performing in Newcastle and there was plenty of crowd interaction as she referred to her fans as her “little monsters”.
