PAOLO Nutini, Enter Shikari, Calvin Harris, The Horrors, Delphic, The Unthanks and folk legend Donovan are the headline acts destined for Tyneside’s May Bank Holiday Evolution Festival.
The massive Quayside event promises to be its best so far having previously seen Dizzee Rascal, Maximo Park and The Human League, Duffy, The Big Pink and Marina grace the Spillers and Baltic stages. This year there’s a new folk and roots area, the Ballast Hill stage.
May 30, the Spillers Stage on Newcastle’s quayside has Scottish troubadour Paolo Nutini plus fellow Scot Calvin Harris, Brit rap sensation Tinchy Stryder and Sunderland’s indie tearaways The Futureheads will also be making highly anticipated appearances on the Spiller stage alongside Frankie and The Heartstrings, Twenty Twenty, Natalie Findlay and Let’s Buy Happiness.
Post hardcore four-piece Enter Shikari will headline the Evolution’s Bank Holiday Monday, May 31, line-up. Other acts confirmed are The Horrors, hip-hop legends De la Soul and BBC Sound of 2010 and Brits Critics’ Choice winner Ellie Goulding. Breakthrough artists Dananananaykroyd, Everything Everything, Egyptian Hip Hop, Minnaars, Cosmo Jarvis and Polarsets also feature.
The Baltic Stage on May 30 has beats and bass from dancefloor messiah Fake Blood plus Benga, Rusko, Scratch Perverts, Beardyman, Filthy Dukes, Doorly, Jaymo and Andy George, Eskimo Twins and People Get Real. The Monday indie dance line-up includes: Manchester’s bright new things Delphic and Hadouken! Example, Frankmusik, I Blame Coco, Ou Est Le Swimming Pool?, Lonelady, Mirrors and Retriever.
The Ballast Hill stage line-up (Sunday) features the critically acclaimed The Unthanks, King Creosote, Po Girl, James Hunter and The Jokers, Dawn Landes, John Smith and J T Nero and Friends.
Monday: Donovan (on his farewell tour), Baskery, Lissie, Smoove and Terrell, Slow Club, Danny and The Champions Of The World and Ben Howard.
