THOSE who enjoy movies with country music soundtracks can look forward to Crazy Heart opening on February 18 featuring around 23 songs.
The film tells the tale of Bad Blake played by Jeff Bridges who is a broken down, hard living country music singer, with too many years on the road. He finds his salvation in journalist Jean (Maggie Gyllenhall) to many songs created by T Bone Burnett and Stephen Bruton. Theme tune, The Weary Kind, is performed by Ryan Bingham. Leading man Bridges performs alongside offerings from Buck Owens, The Louvin Brothers, Lightnin’ Hopkins, Waylon Jennings, Townes Van Zandt, Sam Phillips, Colin Farrell and Robert Duvall. The first soundtrack is available on January 18, with a deluxe edition released on February 1. I think if ever Jeff Bridges required a second career he would do extremely well with a fully blown album release. After all Kevin Costner proved his worth in country circles.
If the film is as good as the soundtrack it’s well worth a watch.
