LOS CAMPESINOS! are a seven-piece indie pop band from Cardiff whose style is distinct – with glockenspiel and violins among its vast array of instruments.
There seems to be a real buzz around this band. Its songs have infectious beats accompanied by clever lyrics which entwine themselves as the various instruments blend seamlessly.
Incidentally, the band tries to use every instrument it can get its hands on, and if it makes a noise then it will use it. The audience needed no encouragement to dance with rapturous abandon, and the band kept the crowd fully engaged.
Track We Throw Parties, You Throw Knives had the sweatridden audience jumping and dancing around, and Death To Los Campesinos! carries on this chaotic moving. This track shows the bewitching charisma that the Campesinos possess.
The band’s mix of electronic and basic instrumental sounds, combined with lyrics taken from real life scenarios, and equal parts of boy and girl participation, make it perfect for dancing.
This was one of Los Campesinos! first shows since vocalist Alexis’s departure.
However, the vocals of Gareth and Kim were intense, combining wonderfully.
Catchy track You! Me!
Dancing! was the show stealer.
