THERE'S something to suit all tastes on the folk menu in the coming week, starting with a singaround tonight at The Ship in Middlesone Village tonight.

The choice tomorrow is between Tom Bliss at Robin Hood's Bay folk club and an all-star concert featuring Vin Garbutt, Marie Little and Backshift at Saltburn's Spa.

Saturday is a toss-of-thecoin between Richard Grainger and Brother Crow at Ya rm's Fellowship Hall and Aussie song-writer Eric Bogle, who appears with sideman John Munro at Washington's Davy Lamp as part of what he has decided will be his final UK tour.

Marie Little returns for a solo gig at Guisborough Rugby Club on Sunday, the same night that Steve Dawes and Helen Pitt pay a visit to Northallerton's Ty the Barn.

On Monday there are two doses of fine traditional folk music, from Brian Peters at Stockton's Sun Inn, and Dearham, Gammon and Harrison at Newcastle's Bridge.

Tuesday offers us Vin Garbutt at an early evening show as part of Middlesbrough Literary Festival at the Berwick Hills Library, and Bram Ta ylor and Roly Hindmarch at Darlington's Britannia, and then Wednesday's highlight is Kieran Halpin at Bishop Auckland Town Hall, with The Bill Elliott Band in support.

Finally, many thanks to everyone at Cramlington's Hind Folk Club, who gave us all a fine welcome and outstanding musical support at my gig there last Tuesday.

They have a fine list of forthcoming attractions, and it's barely ten minutes past the Tyne Tunnel for us southerners. You don't even need a passport, so why not pop up and say hello.
