I HAD the title song of Fame going through my head all day in anticipation of the evening’s performance. I had watched every one of the TV episodes in the Eighties and I loved it.
The live show seems to have lost the angst and rejection of student life in a stage school.
In fact, it seems to have lost the motivating factor shared by both the film and the television show, and there is very little story-line to report.
The dancing was energetic and well choreographed, and there was one girl who was superb, but any attempt to identify her from the programme has proved futile.
What bothered me the most was the sexually explicit movement, including the words and actions to some of the songs that were, in my opinion, not suitable for young children.
There were enough young children in the audience to populate a pantomime and all of them seemed to be eating sweets loudly. Their noisy fidgeting clearly demonstrated how they felt about the show. I agree wholeheartedly. I was bored, too.
