A THEATRE is running free online dance classes instead of its usual workshops. Darlington Hippodrome, in association with D Project, is running the classes for three weeks.
The venue’s regular programme of youth theatre and youth dance classes held during the summer term will then move online.
The first sessions take place today and tomorrow and will be a contemporary class where participants can learn phrases with restricted space in mind and get creative with choreographic tasks.
On Friday, the venue is set to hold two sessions, one at 10am where young people of all ages can join a dance fitness class which combines exercise with music to keep spirits up and maintain stamina, strength and flexibility.
Another session at 2pm will see participants being taught the mass dance routine due to be performed at this year’s Darlington Dance Festival.
As well as being aimed at existing members of the Hippodrome’s Youth Dance, the venue’s free April classes are also open to new participants.
Anyone who would like to join should email Hippodrome.BoxOffice@ darlington.gov.uk Participants need a wifi connection, and a laptop or phone with a camera. Emails should be sent up to an hour before each class and participants will be sent a link to join the Zoom session.
