A TOWN is being celebrated in a multimedia art installation honouring its residents.
Northern Heartlands and Lonely Tower Film and Media have created an installation that will explore the 21st Century heart of Willington, in County Durham.
Mark Thorburn, of Lonely Tower Film and Media said: "The Our Willington event will be unique and, we hope, set a standard for inclusive cultural events. We have interviewed and recorded the people who call Willington home.
"Their thoughts, concerns, hopes and dreams have then been used to produce a sound and light installation that touches on Willington’s history, its culture and the hopes for its future. We know it will be an incredibly moving evening and one that will shine a bright light on this proud town.
"Our Willington goes straight to the heart of the Northern Heartlands mission to deliver cultural activities that transform people’s understanding of the heritage, landscapes and places they live in, building their confidence and ability to influence policy and decision making."
Jill Cole of Northern Heartlands added: "We are delighted to be working again in Willington following the success of The Man Engine event on the Town Green last year.
"There is a real buzz in this place and we have responded directly to residents who have asked for more high profile, high quality events in the town. It’s a great way for people to come together and we hope this event will live long in people’s memories."
Northern Heartlands have also been working with residents to create a choir, who will perform when the project is shown at Willington town green from 6pm on Saturday, October 5.
