AN exciting, action-packed novel with lots of boy appeal. It's a tale of the Second World War, set in Norway during the Nazi occupation.
Fourteen-year old Marek's father has been arrested by the Gestapo and his older brother Olaf 's girlfriend has been abused by one of the occupying soldiers.
The boys take revenge by blowing up a Nazi officer's car - but the escapade goes dreadfully wrong and they are forced to flee.
They almost die, but are rescued by some resistance fighters and soon find themselves working alongside them.
The settings, story and characters are so convincing, it's hard to believe this is a work of imagination rather than a true account. (Age 11+)
