STARS are lining up for a rock and comedy extravaganza in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust (TCT).

It has been announced that Geordie star Jimmy Nail, comedians John Thompson and Gavin Webster, soul sensation Ruby Turner, operatic voice of sport Sean Ruane, and Strictly Come Dancing winner Jill Halfpenny will be among those at the Bandstand event, at the Sage Gates-head, on September 22.

They will appear alongside Who frontman Roger Daltrey and Darlington comedian Vic Reeves, who will be compering.

Organisers are hoping that even more big names will be joining the line-up, following the massive success of last year's gig.

TCT Bandstand 2007 is raising funds to support young people with cancer across the North-East and to help build a new unit at Newcastle's Royal Victoria Infirmary.

The six-bed ward is expected to open late next year.

Daltrey is a patron of the cancer trust and has been the driving force behind the TCT concerts at the Royal Albert Hall, London, for the past seven years, helping the charity to raise millions of pounds to create specialist wards for young people with cancer.

Tickets for the Gateshead event are £40 to £60, available from www.teenagecancertrust.org/ bandstand, www.ticketmaster. co.uk or www.thesagegateshead. co.uk, or on 0191-443-4661.
