FROM time to time, there are certain songs that create an impression that lasts, and in my radio days there were many.
The Eagles' Lying Eyes, timed at six minutes 31 seconds, allows an on air' presenter time to reach the boys' room, or to answer calls for a phone-in competition.
Emmylou Harris' C'est La Vie You Never Can Tell was a rousing finishing track and Whatever Way The Wind Blows by Kelly Willis was a great opener, allowing you time to welcome listeners to the programme.
Having been away from the recording scene for around five years (on the grounds of bringing up a family) it is good to see Kelly Willis back in action with a new release that could also offer good radio tracks. Entitled Translated From Love it offers 12 tracks, of which six are co-written and complemented by a couple of cover versions.
The title track written by Stephen Yearkey, and Too Much To Lose, where she is joined by husband Bruce Robison, are outstanding offerings which will please her many fans.
If you remember her music from a few years ago, then treat yourself to an updated version.
