THE residents do their best to return to normal after recent events, (EastEnders, BBC 1) but for two families that's going to be particularly difficult. The Fowlers are having an especially hard time getting their heads around what's happened, but at least the gossips are having a field day as the Albert Square grapevine goes into overdrive. Even Shirley should soon be up to date with current events in Walford as Tina visits her in prison, but how will the jailbird react?
Elsewhere, Lauren sees an opportunity to boost her love life and her career in one fell swoop as she goes out for dinner with Josh, and he encourages her to apply for a job at his company (her CV must be a lot more impressive than we thought). Unfortunately, Max worries that if he's sharing an office with his daughter, she might stumble upon his dastardly masterplan.
The day of the sponsored bike ride arrives (luckily Walford's well-documented history of traffic accidents has been taken into account), and Jay and Ben struggle to find a roommate. It seems even in London's cut-throat rental market, no one's that desperate.
Who would want to attack Ken Barlow? Surely he's not exciting enough to bash about and leave for dead at the bottom of the stairs?
However, that appears to be what has happened (Coronation Street, ITV), and now the question is: whodunit? Ken is aghast when DS Mackinnon suggests to him that a member of his family may be responsible, but as the likely culprits - Adam, Peter and Tracy - gather at his bedside, he begins to wonder if she might be right.
Eventually, as his recovery gathers pace, the usually plucky pensioner admits he's frightened to return home. Meanwhile, his children and grandchildren point the finger at each other, and as Daniel plans to leave town to escape the accusations, the finger of suspicion is pointed at Peter, who needs Chloe to act as his alibi.
Elsewhere, Eileen frightens Phelan while having her first driving lesson, Bethany's heart looks set to be broken, and Kevin's finances hit rock bottom.
If Ashley's storyline has already had you sobbing into your tea, be sure to stock up on tissues this week as it reaches its heart-breaking conclusion (Emmerdale, ITV).
Laurel is devastated to be told her husband does not have much time left and decides to bring him home so he can spend his final days surrounded by his friends and family.
But by filling the house with people, is Laurel inadvertently denying Gabby the chance to spend time alone with her father before he quietly passes away?
Elsewhere, Cain is astounded when Faith stands in for Debbie on the farm, prompting Moira to make the radical suggestion that he actually gets to know his mother before dismissing her out of hand.
Paddy suggests that Vanessa keeps her dislike of creepy Pierce to herself for the sake of her friendship with Rhona, but that proves difficult when she spies him watching the sex tape - which would be awkward even if she didn't know he was supposed to have deleted it.
Faith throws a homecoming party for Aaron, leaving Robert afraid that Rebecca is planning her own surprise for the jailbird, and unlikely good Samaritan Jai comes to Nell's aid.
Those Robinson men - they've certainly been Romeos in their day (Neighbours, C5)
Paul has fathered more children than you can shake a stick at, Jim had a secret son with a nurse during the Vietnam war, and now, it seems, Scott may have been up to mischief in the mid-1980s.
That's the rumour circulating as the Tanaka twins finally learn the identity of their biological father from their mother, Jenny, who has been lying about her past - it seems she was 'friends' with Scott in the days before he met Charlene.
Could the boys be the fruits of their brief liaison? And if so, what does that mean for Leo's potential romance with Amy?
Elsewhere, Elly is in a quandary after Finn declares his love for her, and confides in Susan, Ramsay Street's wisest resident. Lauren's concerns about leaving Paige in charge of Harold's intensify when the place is vandalised and Paige begins having serious memory lapses.
