YOU might say that Anderson (Biggs) is unlucky in love. He plans a romantic marriage proposal to his girlfriend and he confronts her at the restaurant Cupidstyle, wearing wings and carrying a bow and arrow.

Instead of saying "yes", she drops dead. Perhaps it was the fact he was wearing only glittering red knickers with his wings.

One year later and he's still moping about, hanging on to memories of his dead love and vowing to stay single forever.

So why, oh why, oh why, does he ask a total stranger, waitress Katie (Fisher), to marry him?

Even more important, why does she accept despite being proposed to the previous night by her orthodontist boyfriend?

This romantic comedy, written and directed by comic actor Michael Ian Black, is quirky and offbeat enough to make it a lot of fun. Jason Biggs has grown up a lot since we first discovered him having sex with his mom's apple pie in American Pie, but his on-screen love life hasn't got less complicated.

Biggs makes an appealing hero out of Anderson and Fisher, from Wedding Crashers via Aussie soap Home And Away, proves a real cute and comic talent as Katie.

Together they mine a rich vein of humour as the couple do all the thing couples should do - but usually do before they get engaged. They move in together, they meet each others' parents and friends, and, of course, get to know each other.

They're surrounded by a talented cast who make the most of the comic opportunities provided for the supporting characters.

Wedding Daze proves a relaxing, laugh-filled oasis among the noisy, overblown summer blockbusters.
