Songwriters return for charity gig

ST Helen’s Church, Ainderby Steeple welcomes back Yvonne and David Lyon for another evening of acoustic music from the talented singer/songwriters from Greenock, in Scotland.

The couple’s skilled playing of piano and guitar complements the thoughtful and sensitive lyrics delivered by Yvonne’s voice.

Yvonne has just released her ninth album, Held, which received rave reviews from Grammy-nominated songwriter Beth Nielsen Chapman. She has recently had her songs played on BBC Radio 2 by Michael Ball and has performed live on Bob Harris and Clare Balding’s radio shows when her music was described by both presenters as “stunning”.

Yvonne has shared the stage with h Nielsen Chapman, Patti Griffin, Karine Polwart, Luka Bloom, Steve Forbert, Juliet Turner and IONA. In 2009, she was among the winners of the Burnsong International Songwriting Competition and performed her winning song All Is Not Lost at the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh.

Yvonne and David will be performing at St Helen’s Church, Ainderby Steeple on Friday. The concert begins at 7.30pm and profits will be donated to the Unicef Winter Appeal, which is providing life-saving help for children caught up in the conflict in Syria.
