THERE’S a hint of Doves in this album and it’s not surprising really as Black Rivers are two-thirds of the iconic Manchester band.
However, it would do brothers Jez and Andy Williams a great disservice to say they were mere soundalikes.
The DNA is definitely there, but Black Rivers stand alone. This is an album that has depth, an album that you need to play several times, perhaps many more, before you can experience all it has to offer.
There’s a certain hypnotic nature to the style of play, drawing you further in with each succeeding track.
Intelligent, immersive stuff.
