Mary J Blige
The London Sessions
SOUL songstress Mary J Blige has discovered a taste – and a new love – for the UK while making her 13th studio album. For The London Sessions, she has employed the services of home-grown stars such as Naughty Boy, Disclosure and Sam Romans, and collaborates with Brit-winning artists Sam Smith and Emeli Sande. The experiment paid off, and the result is a resounding success. Blige hasn't lost her emotional and personal lyrics, which sounds invigorating and a breath of fresh air from her previous albums such as My Life, Growing Pains and The Breakthrough. Opening with the poignant Therapy featuring Smith, the record's stand-out tracks include Doubt, delicate piano-backed Not Loving You, When You're Gone and closing track Worth My Time, although the more upbeat songs such as Follow, Pick Me Up and Right Now are a fun listen too.
