LIKE it or not, Thurston Moore has got the ex factor. His split from wife Kim Gordon in 2011 meant Sonic Youth, the phenomenally influential band the couple formed in 1981, ground to a halt.

After decades of being a totem of New York’s underground scene, the 56-year-old uprooted to London last year, where Gordon told Elle magazine her ex was in a “midlife crisis” as his new relationship with a younger woman came to light.

But The Best Day shows the slender-framed Moore to be creatively forever young.
