THIS imaginatively-conceived album by the specialist ensemble Capella de la Torre, and its director Datharina Bauml, includes a selection of pieces representative of music that might have been performed at the Great Council of Constance. The event, convened between 1414 and 1418 to elect a pope to end the three popes controversy, was framed by celebrations enriched with music.
The album includes sacred music, dance and popular song. Brilliant performances that offer a fascinating insight into the music of the time.
