TENS of thousands of young music fans are set to enjoy a day of chart-topping music in the region on Sunday.
Jessie J is headlining North-East Live at the Stadium of Light in Sunderland.
She will be joined on stage by Rizzle Kicks, the Saturdays, Jason Derulo, Katy B, Union J, The Vamps, Austin Mahone, Neon Jungle and Rixton.
It is the second concert of the summer at the home of Sunderland football club following the success of One Direction’s sell out show last month.
The event is expected to draw about 30,000 music fans and is expected to contribute up to £3.5m to the city’s economy.
Leader of Sunderland City Council, Councillor Paul Watson said: “People from all over the country and even further, will be visiting Sunderland and it’s a huge opportunity to showcase what the city has to offer.
“The council and local businesses need to make sure they enjoy that visit and leave the city knowing that they want to come back again.”
North-East Live is organised by SAFC and AEG Live and sponsored by Blinkbox music.
Gates open at midday, with Austin Mahone starting the show at 1.20pm and headliner Jessie J closing at about 9.45pm.
Gary Hutchinson, commercial manager at SAFC, said: “This extended running time means that many people, particularly those travelling from outside the area, have opted for overnight accommodation, with others planning to arrive early and stay late in order to make travel easier and to soak up the atmosphere.
“Not only will this generate footfall for businesses around the stadium but for the wider city as a whole.”
Tickets, priced from £25, are still available at www.safcconcerts.com, or www.uklive.co.uk/north-east
