A POPULAR gospel choir is tuning up for a concert in Darlington next month.
The Lakes Gospel Choir will perform at King's Church Centre, in Whessoe Road, at 7pm, on Saturday, July 5.
It is being organised in conjunction with St Andrew's Church, on Haughton Green.
The concert is to raise funds for Darlington Food Store Network.
A registered charity, the choir is run entirely by volunteers and based in Bowness-on-Windermere in the Lake District.
From humble beginnings as a group of like-minded people singing in the kitchen of choir director Robin Perris, the choir now has more than 60 enthusiastic members from all walks of life.
As a thriving community choir and one of the fastest growing choirs in the Lakes, the choir can be seen throughout the year performing at a variety of fundraising, church and community events.
Its biggest event to date was last September at the Apollo Theatre in Manchester, where it supported Christian speaker Bob Gass.
Doors open at 6.15pm. Tickets are on sale, priced £5 for adults and £3 for pensioners and under 16s.
They are available from St Andrew's Church office, on 01325-468142, or from the King's Church office.
