THE Highway is the latest release from the granddaughter of the legendary Hank Williams Snr.
No matter what profession you are in it is always hard to follow in family footsteps as often so much is expected.
However, part of the success of Holly Williams as a singer songwriter is that it has never been her mission to try and live up to the legacy cast by her famous and prolific father and grandfather – Hank Snr. and Hank Jnr. respectively, nor has she spent time trying to live it down.
Now in this new release the thirty one year old puts her own individual stamp on love, loss, simple times and life’s ups and downs with an 11-track offering.
She is not new to offering the listener new styles and themes as her previous albums The Ones’s We Never Know (2004), and Here With Me (2009) proved gaining her a broad fan base.
Having taken nine months to produce and self finance the album she says The Highway feels like her first album.
“This was my baby, there were plenty of sleepless nights, and there was a lot of confusion as I was still writing in the middle of recording. I wasn’t fully prepared with all of the material when we started, but I had to keep pushing.”
In total the album is an eclectic mix of acoustic style sounds with great new songs and brilliant musicianship.
