Violinist Tamsin Waley-Cohen is joined by pianist Huw Watkins in a diverse programme of works composed as the First World War drew to a close. Debussy was in the twilight of his life, while Respighi was enjoying his first flush of fame and Elgar and Sibelius were in their prime. Compelling performances.

Mahler: Lorin Maazel 4CD-set (SIGCD361)
Lorin Maazel and the Philharmonia Orchestra present Mahler’s Fourth, First and Sixth Symphonies. This is the second set in a series that will encompass Mahler’s Nine symphonies, featuring live recordings from London’s Royal Festival Hall. These impeccably-crafted accounts come highly recommended.
