THIS is the third album from Jerrod Niemann since he was signed by Arista in 2010. He says, “On my first two albums, I tried to cover all the music I enjoy. This time we mashed it all together and that’s what you do when you’re attempting to create your own sound. As it all gelled, I think it brought us into our own pure sound for the first time.”
His words indicate how important it is for an artist, who is trying to create a contemporary country sound, to avoid becoming a run of the mill offering from Nashville. The discerning ear will note a mix of pop, country and electronic rock providing a wide emotional spectrum.
Niemann has already charted with his debut single from the album, entitled Drink To That All Night, reaching number four in the US Country Charts and number one in the Country Radio Airplay Charts.
As country music is constantly moving its goalposts, Niemann has put on his goalkeeper gloves with this offering perhaps paving the way for an extra dimension of country sound. It’s a release that will appeal to the new country fans, but will not have the same support from the traditionalist.
Join me on the American Connection Music Show from Saturday on euvue.co.uk/ because I’ll be featuring three tracks in the Album Of The Week slot.
