Cassadee Pope: Frame By Frame Decca/Big Machine Records
CASSADEE Pope may be a new name on this side of the pond, however the US is already is aware of her talent.
Originally the lead singer with an outfit called Hey Monday, she had already released an album and a couple of EPs before moving on to a solo career.
In 2012, she released her debut solo EP and followed it up by becoming a contestant on the third season of NBC’s The Voice, where she became the first female winner of the show. Her debut country album was released last year and gained her a number one in the US country charts.
Next week it is released here in the UK, with the first single, I Wish I Could Break Your Heart, already gaining airplay.
At just 23, Cassadee has presented an album reminding me of early releases from Carrie Underwood that cross over into the contemporary pop charts.
It falls into the modern style of releases emanating from the Nashville scene at the moment. It will no doubt gain her more of a younger audience, which means longevity in career stakes, but for the traditionalist I’m not sure if they would help build sales.
Having said that, it is fresh, clean, and well produced and not filled with modern day sound effects giving her the chance to show off a good vocal range.
