BRIGHTON’S best twosome returns with what is, incredibly, their fourth album. In what seems like the blink of an eye, Laura- Mary Carter and Steven Ansell mark their ten-year anniversary with an absolute barnstormer of a record.
It’s a super-fuzz fun fest that rips and roars its way from start to finish, with a gutsy sound only hinted at in their 2008 debut, Box Of Secrets. Self-titled albums are often said to be the most definitive of a band’s life and it certainly feels like Blood Red Shoes have grown into this one during the last decade.
The duo have found a mature and assured ferocity that stand-out songs An Animal, The Perfect Mess and Welcome Home capture perfectly.
