IT’S been a long three years since American indie favourites released their last album, but Atlas shows the band back on blazing form. Known for their breezy, melodic rock, their clear-headed third album is a continuation on the effortless sound of their second album Days, which they toured heavily across the world.
With Matt Kallman replacing Jonah Maure on keyboard duties, lead single Talking Backwards stays true to the group’s sweet pop sound, while instrumental track April’s Song showcase the tight arrangements they have perfected over the years. The Bend gives Martin Courtney a platform for his vocals, which reference The Beach Boys and The Byrds, while How Might I Live offers a more pensive, introspective sound. One thing’s for sure, this Brooklyn-based band is hot property.
