NINETEEN-YEAR-OLD Nina Nesbitt proved a hit at last summer’s festivals and that stage confidence shows on her debut album.
Peroxide delivers a confident, street-savvy take on folk, with the lyrics encapsulating her times with maturity and subtle wit. Lead single Selfies mocks ironically, ‘‘I’ll post it up in black and white, with a depressing quote on my life’’. For the most part, this is exactly what you’d expect – catchy pop with the occasional soft rock ballad, but it’s the conviction that sells it most. A bright future beckons.
