IF ever there was an artist unqualified to write a song called Writer’s Bloc, it would be Guided By Voices main man Robert Pollard.
Still, the track is there, along with 22 others, on the band’s fifth album since reforming in 2010. It’s also the 56-year-old Pollard’s seventh release, in one guise or another, this year, and it’s teeming with tunes. The songs rarely clock in at over 90 seconds, but they have more hooks and stylistic shifts than most bands’ careers. A caustic cornucopia of genius pop rock.
