THE strongest and most dynamic international line-up in the four-year history of the Durham Blues Festival will take to the stage of the city’s Gala Theatre on Saturday, June 21.
Festival-goers will be able to see 12 different artists, with some of the hottest names in the business stepping on stage including Walter Trout who has played with Percy Mayfield, Deacon Jones, John Lee Hooker, Joe Tex, Canned Heat and John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers.
He formed the Walter Trout Band in 1989 and has created 20 albums, the latest being Common Ground. BBC Radio 1 put Trout as number six in the list of the 20 greatest guitarists.
“There are times when I’m playing guitar when I enter a state where I’m not consciously aware of what I’m playing. It’s like a signal coming through me,” says Trout.
Other performers to watch out for are Royal Southern Brotherhood from the US South, the Stevie Nimmo Trio from Scotland, rising star Jo Harman and Company and The Spellkasters.
The acts for the Blues Café Acoustic Stage will be announced soon.
