JOSE Padilha directs this glossy remake of Paul Verhoeven’s influential 1987 sci-fi thriller, about a futuristic society that meddles with technology and pays a hefty price for its transgressions.
Detroit police officer Alex Murphy (Joel Kinnaman) has a beautiful wife Clara (Abbie Cornish) and a glittering future in the force.
During a routine call, he is gravely injured and the scientists at conglomerate OmniCorp save his life by transforming Alex into a crimefighting cyborg.
The company hopes to introduce a RoboCop to every city, in 2028 America, and Alex’s rebirth is the perfect opportunity to showcase their controversial technology to greedy investors.
Unfortunately, OmniCorp’s nefarious CEO, Raymond Sellars (Michael Keaton), and his money-hungry board do not count on the humanity that burns bright beneath Murphy’s metallic shell.
