The young German cellist Leonard Elschenbroich and pianist Alexei Grynyuk join forces in an enchanting recording of Rachmaninov’s Cello Concerto in G minor and Vocalise.
The album is rounded off with Shostakovich’s Violin Sonata, which alludes to several of his earlier works, with quotes from other composers including Berg’s Violin Concerto.
Featuring playing that is beautifully balanced and finely articulated, these insightful readings come highly recommended.
